During the 20’s and 30’s, Alfa Romeo was producing big cars with big engines.  Always beautiful, often raced, WW II changed everything, and Alfa was forced to build motors half the size that the masses could afford.

Conceived by Carlo Chiti, employing Ferrari and Alfa engineers, Auto-Delta was established in 1961 as a racing department for Alfa Romeo factory.  As a means to revive the golden days of racing, Autodelta ( they dropped the hyphen) became a part of Alfa Romeo proper in 1963, constructing the SZ, TZ and GTA series of cars.

Not just competitive, these small displacement Alfa Romeos ended up with sweeping overall and class wins, often with motors half the size of their rivals.

Among the many wins for Alfa Romeo, their TZ series of cars stands out.  Light, nimble, these machines couldn’t match the straight line speed of others, but could dive into corners, braking late, carrying exit speeds that made them an awesome weapon on road racing courses around the world.

It’s easy to see why every collector wants one, given there sheer beauty and performance and why there is huge temptation to pay homage to the original cars through recreations like this one.

This TZ1 replica is mirror image of what was at the time, a radical, tube-frame chassis, designed to run against Ferrari, Maserati and Porsche; an homage to one of the most spectacular little track cars every built.  Often compared to the Ferrari 250 GTO for its physical beauty, TZ1’s are now well over the million dollar mark.

In fiberglass with molds taken from a real TZ1, this car is virtually indistinguishable from the real thing with all Alfa Romeo chassis and running gear.

Totally street-able, turnkey ready, this car was built to allow the owner the experience of driving a car that has become unaffordable for most.
