THE 7th ANNUAL BARRINGTON CONCOURS was a huge success…
There are a lot of reasons the Barrington Concours just keeps getting better every year, and a large dose of that success comes down to plain hard work. Long time Chairperson, Patty Doud-Schmitz has enlisted the help of David Cooper (now Co-Chair and CEO of the event), combining forces and the aforementioned hard work to firmly secure the 2013 Barrington Concours as one of the premier car events in the Midwest.
Patty and David have asked former racers and team owners Don Devine and Bobby Rahal to assemble a special group of historic Indy Race Cars from 1972 to 1986. Calling on his many long-time friends and clients, David Cooper (see note on Cooper below) has managed to secure five Voisin cars on loan from the Mullin Automotive Museum in Oxnard, California. Very seldom displayed outside of the museum, these art deco cars represent a special place in automotive history.
Included in the July 14th, Barrington Concours lineup will be:
- 1972 All-American Racers Indy Eagle with 4 cylinders and 1100 horsepower
- 1979 McLaren M24B-3 with 850 horsepower and a V8 Turbo engine
- 1980 Ward & Watson Champ Car with 375 horsepower
- 1986 March 86C with a 2.6 liter engine and 680 horsepower.
“Having seen this lineup of Indy cars, I’m confident that this is an impressive display outside of the Indy 500,” remarked racing legend, Bobby Rahal. “I’ve been particularly impressed by the attitude and goals of the Barrington Concours in regard to their emphasis on educating the public about our rich automotive history. I was so impressed that I joined the board to be involved in future activities.”
Extraordinary Duesenbergs, Indy Cars, Corvettes, Porsches, Ferraris, Maseratis, Mini Cars, Muscle Cars, Vincent Motorcycles and more. Special awards will be given to Randy Ema, Bob McKee, Bob Shaw, and Lou Natenshon, Pat Morse, Carl Edwards, and Bill Siegfriedt and others.
The 7th Annual Barrington Concours kicks off on Saturday July 13th with a road rally through the rolling countryside surround Barrington, IL, a Great Gatsby themed Charity Gala and VIP Cocktail Reception that evening, and the Concours itself on Sunday, July 14th.
