Bentley took their big, beautiful Conti GT up the mountain at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb last year. It didn’t just win but made the Continental made the run in10:18.488, besting the previous record by a whopping 8.4 seconds.
The automaker wasted no time in responding to Rhys Millan’s record-setting victory with a limited production run Continental to commemorate the brand’s performance at the annual competitive event in Colorado, managing to design a special cosmetics package for the model, unveil it, and open up the order books for it before the end of the year. That’s making pretty good time, as well.
The first thing you’ll notice about the Pikes Peak Continental is the color. Bentley calls it “Radium”, but I’ve christened it “Mystified” as I just can’t fathom who thought to paint a Bentley this color. Worse still, they’ve gone and used it as both main color and accent, popping up in various places in the interior, and even on the tires.
There is a black option for this limited edition machine, and ALL interested in the Pikes Peak Edition should order it and not get talked into the novelty green, sure to remain unsaleable throughout this lifetime and the next.
The Pikes Peak Edition is badged to include graphics on the glove box that features the record-setting time and a map of the track, again done in uh…, Radium.
Bentley will only build 15 Continentals with the Pikes Peak package. They will be priced according to options specified by the client and no one can guess what a full respray is going to cost potential owners.
