Bugatti Chiron

Bugatti Chiron

It’s official, the new Bugatti is to be called CHIRON.  Named after Louis Chiron, the most successful Bugatti works driver for the brand and, in his day, the best racing driver in the world, the legendary driver won virtually every major Grans Prix for Bugatti in the 20’s and 30’s.

Currently under final shake down runs on the highways of the world, test drivers are busily assessing the car’s performance in all types of conditions (think sandy, camel-packed stretches of road).

I didn’t make the select customer list of those invited to attend the pre-production parties.  Yet those that have seen the car must be impressed as 100 orders have already been received and that’s without one of those people turning a wheel.

Cocktail talk:

  • $2.5 Million
  • 8 Liter V-16
  • 4 turbos
  • 1500 HP
  • 0-60 about 2 seconds
  • top speed 288 MPH

My guess is those bits of information are more than most buyers know.  Frankly, driving isn’t why they bought the car as most used Bugattis are traded and sold with less than 3,000 miles on the odometer.

At this level, owners are much more interested in bragging rights, and knowing that they won’t see another one parked at the grocery store (Monaco excepted).  The Chiron virtually guarantees stupendous performance, but more importantly, exclusivity on the order of Faberge Eggs.

To be unveiled at the 86th Geneva Motor Show in 2016, deliveries are expected in 2016.
