Weinberger Sweeps At Road America…
October 26th-29th, Joel Weinberger, dealer principal at Continental AutoSports, is headed for the finals of the 2017 Ferrari Challenge Series, in Mugello, Italy.
After an incredible season of racing, Joel continues his quest for an international championship in Tuscany on the 14 turn, 3.25 mile course, and family, friends and fans are collectively cheering him on.
If you’re a Ferrari aficionado, and who isn’t, by far one of the most interesting of the single-marque races to attend, is the Ferrari Challenge Series. If you’ve wondered about the race, the series encompasses three separate championships around the world. Drivers from Europe, Asia-Pacific and the United States, all battle it out and winners from each of those regions go on to compete for the championship in Mugello, Italy.
Originally formed around the 348 Berlinetta, the series grew into serious competition for wealthy gentleman racers.
Today it’s the 488 Challenge, and new stability controls, engine and gearbox software, tires and aerodynamics, combine to change the street version of the 488 into a serious racing machine.
And serious the Challenge 488 is, faster around Ferrari’s Fiorano test track than a LaFerrari, and by a whopping four seconds.
A great guy, and a tremendous driver, everyone that knows Joel couldn’t be prouder of his successes, especially his dad, and we will talk with Joel on an upcoming podcast once he’s back from the finals.
