The “Oscars” of Watches

I haven’t always been a watch guy. In fact, only recently did I buy a Rolex. And there seems to be a direct connection between cars and watches; perhaps styling, function, price.  But the “Oscars” of The Watch World never crossed my mind. Are there Oscar Watch Parties like the ones held traditionally in March every year?  A parade of stars giving acceptance speeches?

On November 4th, the 2021 edition of the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG) awards ceremony will celebrate the most outstanding achievements in watchmaking of the past year.

Until this article crossed my desk, I was totally in the dark as to the goings-on with one of the most closely watched events in the highly esteemed world of collectors watches.  Who knew that there were all of the categories?
