When you just have to be the coolest…
Just like cars, motorcycles come in classifications of fast, faster, and Nearer My God. And just like cars, speed doesn’t always translate to looks.
With my motorcycle days behind me (my wife and I discussed this only once), I’m seldom smitten enough by the two wheeled machines to stop for a look. Until a couple of days ago.
Parked outside a local watering hole was a gorgeous Triumph Thruxton 900 cc, commanding attention from not just me, but a fairly large swarm of dudes. We all exchanged the same looks of envy, offset by whispered words of more than simple approval. This was a thing of beauty.
A little bit of Googling led me to an understanding of the why’s behind the design. Retro, cafe-racer, classic, this bike, and its sibling R and 1200, were designed to remind us that fun isn’t always about stoplight drag races. While not slow in that speed department, the Thruxton line let’s grownups engage the road with much less rage and much more smiles.
Not particularly cheap considering you are only getting 68 HP, guys and girls will buy this bike for its looks and its unabashed nod to an era not forgotten.
