Note: It is important to consult a healthcare professional…
if you experience any symptoms of hearing loss or suspect that you may have been exposed to loud noises, like driving a Ferrari 16M, for instance. But let me assure you, the few decibels of hearing loss you may suffer are entirely worth the driving experience in this car.
In Los Angeles and its surrounding residential neighborhoods, there are now lighted signs advising that loud exhausts will get you a ticket, though I’ve never seen a police car parked anywhere near these electronic warning devices.
The exhaust note from a Ferrari 16M should come with a pre-written ticket; you buy the car, the ticket is in the glove box. It’s not just the speed of this Ferrari that can get you in serious trouble, drive a 16M in anger and the car is manic symphony of everything I, and every other car aficionado enjoys, and what the Prius driving public detests. I’m of the opinion that a few scarred eardrums never hurt anyone.
If you’ve heard a 430 Scuderia being driven in con brio, you know the incredible sound they make. Another level of noise is the only way to describe the convertible version of the Scuderia. The engine just screams as the exhaust valves open and close.
Only 499 Ferrari 16M Scuderia Spider models were made, produced to celebrate Ferrari’s 16th Formula 1 Constructors’ Championship win in 2009. Though a bit heavier than the Scuderia Coupe, the performance is on par, and this Speciale, like every other limited edition cars by Ferrari, has some serious upside for the collector.
