FIVE ALTERNATIVE WAYS TO RUN THE MILLE MIGLIA

It isn’t just one race anymore.

The star of automobile rallies, and a national passion in Italy, the Mille Miglia 1000 isn’t just a race, it’s a brand. Encompassing a number of of events, not just in Italy, but Japan, China, the UAE, and now, Florida, here in the US.

The granddaddy of them all, the Mille Miglia, Italian for “one thousand miles”, was originally an all out road race, first run in March 1927, ended in 1957 when a tragically fatal crash killed 11 people. Banned since then, in 1987, the Mille Miglia reenactment became an annual thing again, covering the same route, but now a rally instead of a race, still following the original route from Brescia to Rome and back again. It’s an honor to participate in the “1000”, with always more applications than acceptances, and it seems to be on the bucket list for motor sports enthusiasts globally.

Your are a shoo-in if your car was an original participant in the event between 1927-1957. Barring that, cars of historical significance, VIP-co-drivers, or cars owned by a sponsor team, are also candidates for acceptance.

Here are other ways you can participate in Mille Miglia events. Simply click on the red links and you will go directly to their site. Videos below are as available on-line.
