Attend any cars and coffee type of event and you’ll see a lot of cars with Montana license plates. Not the inexpensive stuff but the costlier the car, the more likely you are to spot that Montana plate, according to a Bloomberg Tax article.
The why is easy; form a Montana LLC, buy your vehicle through the LLC and, skip the vehicle taxes. This, of course, is especially money saving as the cost of the car goes up. Think Rolls, Bentley, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porsche, almost anything, including a private jet.
Now, states are cracking down, more than ever as budget shortfalls, tariffs, and natural disasters place heavy burdens on declining coffers.
