THE FLYING FLEA

The Flying Flea incorporates, history, retro and electric fun, all in one package.

June 6th, 1944, and the Flying Flea became part (albeit small in every sense the word) of World War II history.

The “Flea” was originally designed by a German company in the 30’s, imported to the Netherlands by a Jewish firm, but later later banned by the Nazis and their horrifying antisemitism. A poke in Hitler’s eye, the little motorcycle became a part of the Normandy invasion first for its diminutive size and secondly, with its special footrests, kickstarter and handlebars folded, the tiny machine could be effortlessly dropped from the bomb racks of Allied aircraft, positioned on the ground for Allied paratroopers to advance quickly on the lightweight Flying Flea.

Built by Royal Enfield Royal Enfield’s underground factory in a stone quarry in Westwood, in rural England, with only 125cc’s, it didn’t save the war, but it did contributed greatly by cheaply and efficiently moving troops around the battlefields of France and Germany.

Today, the Flying Flea lives again, now as an all-electric means of transportation that incorporates the romance of retro, with modern technology. Copying much of the old design, the resurrected Flying Flea becomes a very cool way of navigating the urban jungle. An inexpensive commuter to work, or more likely, a fun little magic carpet for those looking to escape the everday humdrum of life.
